Mutual Aid is a way to meet people’s immediate needs while also investigating and challenging the root causes that produced those needs in the first place. Whether in response to natural disasters or persistent failures of the social safety net, mutual aid is a model that brings people together, builds authentic relationships and community in order to meet people’s immediate needs, while simultaneously centering the systems and institutions that make some folks more vulnerable than others.
